Data Governance and Earth Observations Infrastructure Community of Practice (CoP) Meeting

The NEOSS Data Governance and Earth Observations Infrastructure Communities of Practice (CoPs) invite you to the upcoming CoP meeting scheduled for Friday, 24 October 2025, from 11:00 to 12:30 (SAST) via Microsoft Teams.

The NEOSS CoPs serve as dynamic platforms for knowledge exchange and collaboration, catalysing discussions on critical issues in space science, innovation, and Earth observations.

This session will provide an important opportunity to engage on the GEO In-Situ Data Strategy, which will be considered for adoption by the GEO Executive Committee at its 67th Session (28–29 October 2025).

The strategy outlines a global framework for the collection, sharing, and preservation of ground-based Earth observation data, complementing satellite data to enable integrated Earth intelligence. It also promotes the adoption of FAIR, CARE, and TRUST data management principles to ensure that data remains accessible, ethical, and interoperable.

During this session, we will:

• Share the final version of the In-Situ Data Strategy with the community;
• Capture any final inputs and recommendations to be conveyed by the South African Co-Chair during the GEO ExCom session;
• Raise awareness of the tools and frameworks supporting implementation, including the GEO Knowledge Hub, G-REQS, and LibInSitu platforms.
