This CoP is dedicated to promoting data governance and developing general principles for facilitating and enhancing access to and the uptake of earth observation data and formation by a wide range of user communities, in a coherent manner and provide guidance and best practices on standards such as data openness, transparency, stakeholder engagement, intellectual property rights (IPR).

  • Involvement in the data sharing related initiatives.
  • Encourage that the framework for full and open access to data is addressed in the implementation of SAEOS and on promoting awareness and Benefits of GEO in the Science and Technology Community and its components.
  • Encouragement of relevant scientists and technical experts to contribute to the development of SAEOSS.
  • Identification of existing approaches on the interpretation of full and open access to geographic data.
  • Investigation of the International policies and norms on access to data.
